It’s great to see musicians in Asia remaining connected to their ancestral cultures, which are ultimately indigenous and consistent with Mother Earth land stewardship, etc. The aspirations to be “Western” are fine, as people, of course, should be allowed to explore all types of music, but I find that the predominance of this trend is partially and uncritical capitulation to whiteness.
